Events Wood Buffalo (EWB) is a young and nimble nonprofit organization dedicated to providing festivity, cultural access and special event support and mentorship for the region of Wood Buffalo. Headquartered in Fort McMurray at MacDonald Island Park, the Events Wood Buffalo team currently comprises 5 full time staff members and over 100 contract staff annually.
Events Wood Buffalo produces 5 major events annually (WinterPLAY Carnival, CanadaROCKS, interPLAY, SummersEND and the Santa Claus Parade) and in recent months the organization has experienced explosive growth with A-list artists like KISS and REBA drawing record crowds of over 10,000 people!
Events Wood Buffalo serves the largest municipality in North America, recently described as the epicenter of the continental economy. One of the fastest growing regions in Canada, both in terms of people and infrastructure, Wood Buffalo is home to the Athabasca Oil Sands, one of the largest supplies of oil in the world. The population of the region, now just over 100,000, is expected to double in the next 25 years.
In a place defined by Big Spirit, opportunity abounds, and Events Wood Buffalo is in the heart of the action.
